Modern Culture

In my third year studying  at Elizabeth Galloway Academy of Fashion Design. I created a range that was inspired by my heritage;I grew up in two African countries called Namibia and South Africa. As you have noticed, the range is quite colourful and bold. The reason for this is that I chose the colour theme from these two countries national flags. I designed all the prints and got them digital printed in Cape Town. I designed two menswear and one womenswear outfit. My aim was to stand out with this range and I enjoy the avant-garde fashion world.

The top I made for the womenswear outfit has twisted sleeves. I used a floral net fabric that I gathered at the bottom of the top. I used the floral to represent the protea flower.

For the colourful jersey, I used non-stretch and stretched material ( fleece and cotton twill)  and added a yellow zip on the right side.

The final outfit I enjoyed making the cape with the pointed shoulders. I used boning and horsehair to get that effect.

The range became a masterpiece on the runway. The audience were amazed and loved it!
